“Turathna”, a subsidiary of Omran, is tasked with developing and managing historic properties as well as some privately owned housing units, on behalf of Ministry of Tourism (MOT) and the Ministry of Heritage & Culture (MOH&C); with an independent management and governance structure. “Turathna” is mandated to develop the heritage and cultural tourism segment in Oman, capitalizing on the country’s abundance of historic forts & castles and other cultural tourism attractions. In doing so, “Turathna” is also intended to create jobs and opportunities for local tourism related small businesses. As a newly formed company in developing heritage destinations, and in order to capitalize on Oman’s heritage wealth, “Turathna” has a strategy to develop a comprehensive urban master plans for historical villages in Oman.
